All are welcome, from beginners in meditation to seasoned practitioners, to join a six-day retreat that blends serenity with intensity, without being overwhelming. Our daily practice begins at 6:30 in the morning, followed by breakfast served in the traditional Zen Oryoki-style in the meditation hall. Throughout the day, there will be periods of meditation, mindful work in nature, talks, and an extended break after lunch for relaxation and swimming. Introductions in meditation and Oryoki will be provided, along with opportunities for one-on-one conversations with the teacher.
Akazienzendo at Kaisanji offers Zen practitioners a unique space to deepen their practice, while providing beginners with an introduction to Zen amidst breathtaking surroundings and ample support.
Immediately preceding the event, a Yoga and Zen Retreat will be held at Kaisanji. If you are interested, please refer to more information here.
Information about the yoga retreat can also be found on the Zen Center Athens website.
Furthermore, Bernd Bender will lead a Zen seminar at Zen Center Athens on November 9th and 10th, which you are also welcome to attend.
In terms of logistics: the retreat fee covers accommodation in double rooms (single rooms if available), vegan meals, and teachings.
We will depart by boat from Piraeus on the morning of November 1st and return on the evening of November 7th. Travel expenses are the responsibility of each participant, and depending on your departure location, you may need to arrange overnight stays in Athens before and after the retreat.
